As I noted above, Marco sailed on the SS Blücher to New York, a year before Paulina and the children. I imagine that Paulina left Iași and went to stay with her parents in Piatra Neamt, with her two children and expecting her third while Marco established himself in New York. As mentioned above, Marco’s brother “Lupu” or “Wolf” immigrated first to the US, something I first discovered through examining the SS Blücher’s ship manifest. Later, I heard that there was an argument over money and the brothers became estranged.
