Abstract
The University of Calgary Archives and Special Collections, like most memory institutions, stewards many collections that contain born-digital material. Over the past two years, we have been developing workflows for discovering, migrating, and preserving this material. Fonds that contain a mixture of digital and analogue material are quite common. For most of the history of our institution, the most we could do with this material was document it, but we lacked the tools and practices to migrate and preserve it.

Using a specialized digital forensics computer and the BitCurator environment, we are able to acquire images of a variety of media types, including 3.5" floppy disks, Zip disks, and external hard drives with a variety of interfaces. Over time, and through a process of trial and error, we have developed workflows and best practices for doing this work with the resources we have in-house.

Through this demonstration, I will show our processes of:
- migrating born-digital material off physical media
- acquiring metadata relating to the material and its provenance
- preparing the material for ingest into our digital preservation system
- preparing the material for access through our digital asset management system
