Bauhaus is often understood as an expression of high style, and it is undeniable that some of the most iconic and influential buildings of the 20th centrury were created by the Bauhaus.

But a strong thread in the Bauhaus approach to design was to take advantage of modern materials and inexpensive construction techniques to make efficient, useful, and even beautiful living spaces available to the working class.

Prior to the Bauhaus (and allied design movements), most working class housing conditions were unlivable by current standards. Could the Bauhaus teach us anything about designing solutions to contemporary challenges, such as homelessness, climate change, and inclusive governance?
